What is KiddReads?
KiddReads is a kid-safe book finder for children ages 4–13. Families browse 55,000+ hand-picked books by age or US grade, search by title or author, and get recommendations from Seb, a friendly AI book buddy. Kids build a bookshelf, write reviews, and save a want-to-read list, and parents get a dashboard to stay in the loop. I built it as a 12-year-old reader, and the core is free.
Is KiddReads safe for kids?
Yes. KiddReads is built COPPA-conscious: every title is hand-picked and age-classified, there are no ads, no marketing aimed at children, and no tracking of kids. Parents create each kid's account and can see what their child searches for, reads, and reviews. Adult and inappropriate material is filtered out — not left for a child to stumble onto.
What ages is KiddReads for?
Ages 4 through 13 — picture books, early readers, chapter books, middle grade, and graphic novels. You can filter the catalogue by exact age or by US grade level so every book matches the reader.
Is KiddReads free?
Yes — the core of KiddReads is free for families. Browsing the catalogue, building a bookshelf, getting recommendations from Seb, and the parent dashboard are all free.
How do I find a book for my kid?
Three ways: browse the catalogue and filter by age, US grade, and genre; search by title or author; or chat with Seb, a friendly AI book buddy who recommends real titles based on what your child loves. Every book is hand-picked for kids.
Who is Seb?
Seb is our friendly AI book buddy. A kid tells Seb what they like — a topic, a favourite series, a mood — and Seb suggests real books from the curated catalogue that fit, instead of generic bestseller lists.
What can parents see?
Parents create each child's account and get a dashboard showing what their child searches for, reads, and reviews. Kids get room to explore on their own, and grown-ups get a clear window into it — independence and oversight, together.
Is KiddReads like Goodreads for kids?
In spirit, yes — KiddReads has bookshelves, reviews, ratings, and want-to-read lists, but it's built specifically and safely for kids ages 4–13, with curated titles, no ads, and parent oversight. KiddReads isn't affiliated with Goodreads.
Who made KiddReads?
I'm Brandon — I founded KiddReads in 2026 as a 12-year-old avid reader, because I wanted a safe, fun, modern way for kids to find their next favourite book without using sites built for adults. Questions or a book I should add? Reach me at [email protected].
How do I get started?
A grown-up creates a free account and sets up a profile for each child. From there, kids can browse, search, chat with Seb, build a bookshelf, and save books to read next — all in a kid-safe space. Start by browsing the catalogue.
